GTA V: Quest for the 100% Completion

Ok, I am now beating my head against the wall because Grand Theft Auto V has the most obnoxious, difficult, and tedious achievement….. which actually makes pretty good sense. So, in order to get one of the highest achievements in the game (100 gp), you must attain 100% completion, which includes just about everything you can think of to do. It is really difficult to get, but once you start working on it, this is actually a really genius idea from the developers to get you more involved in the game, and get your money’s worth. When you work on this achievement, you immerse yourself in the game, and each of the Strangers and Freaks missions (which range from extremely hilarious, to extremely disturbing, and sometimes both at once). I have played through the main mission on this game, and it took a while, but can not believe I missed out on a lot of these simple interactions in the game. It reminds me of playing Fallout 3 when you would see random things happen, like explosions, or people being robbed, but on a much larger scale. Anyways, here is a simple guide on how to get to your 100%.

Where to See your Progress

So don’t feel like an idiot, like I made myself feel whenever I found this out. To check the progress on your 100%, go to your menu and go to Stats. There you can track what you need in each category.

It shows exactly which categories you fall short on, and is a good way to obsess over completing these items.

Obviously if you have played through this game before, there are 69 main missions that you must complete to finish the main storyline. This makes up the majority of the 100%, and is recommended that you finish most, or all of these before you go on to Strangers and Freaks. The reasoning behind this is you must complete certain missions before specific strangers and freaks missions are unlocked. This includes all of the Micheal, Franklin and Trevor main missions.

Strangers and Freaks

These missions are on your map labeled with a ?, and lead to other missions once unlocked. These include the following:

  • Tonya (5 Towing missions).
  • Beverley (5 Paparazzo missions).
  • Hao (Shift Work mission).
  • Barry (only Franklin’s 2 missions).
  • Fanatic (only Franklin’s mission).
  • Dom (4 Extreme missions).
  • Omega (Completed after collecting and returning all 50 Spaceships Parts to Omega).
  • Dreyfuss (Available after collecting all 50 Letter Scraps).

Each of these unlock sub-missions that must be completed to earn the 100%, and honestly, they are too funny, and fun to pass up.

Hobbies and Past-times

You really have to do the down-and-dirty for this portion, but it is well worth it as far as skills go. These are the following things you have to accomplish:

  • Get a private lap dance at the Strip Club.
  • Shooting Range: At least a bronze medal in all 3 challenges in each of the Hand Guns, Submachine Guns, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Light Machine Guns and Heavy categories (total 18 medals).
  • 5 Street Races (at least a Bronze medal in each).
  • 6 Off-Road Races (at least a Bronze medal in each).
  • 4 Sea Races (at least a Bronze medal in each).
  • Win at Tennis.
  • Play 9 holes of Golf and finish on Even or Under Par.
  • Win at Darts.
  • 3 Triathlon Races (at least a Bronze medal in each).
  • Flight School (at least a Bronze medal in all 12 lessons).
  • Parachuting (all 13 Base and Heli Jumps).

This is the most tiresome portion of the 100%, considering it includes finding the spaceship items, and all the scraps from the Murder-Confession letter. These are the following:

  • Collect all 50 Spaceship Parts (From Beyond The Stars ).
  • Collect all 50 Letter Scraps (A Mystery, Solved ).
  • Complete 25/50 Under The Bridges.
  • Complete 25/50 Stunt Jumps.
  • Complete 8/15 Knife Flights.
  • Purchase any 5 properties.
  • Purchase any vehicle from a website.
  • Walk and play “fetch” with Chop.
  • Complete a Booty Call.
  • Use a prostitute.
  • Hold up a store.
  • Visit the cinema.
  • 4 Friend Activities (go to the Cinema, play Darts, go to the Strip Club and visit a Bar).

Good luck with these.

Random Events

Ok, this part isn’t too terribly difficult, as long as you know exactly where these will occur. You will see these unfold by a blinking red, or blue and red dot on your map.
